Senior School Choir Workshop

The BSC choir just returned from a workshop conducted by Ms. Shamistha at the Aditya boutique hotel in Galle. The three-day program involved intense rehearsals and took a lot of determination and commitment from our dedicated choristers who had to learn 5 songs in preparation for the Asia Pacific Choir games. On arrival, we started off our workshop with a delicious lunch and then immediately begun the rehearsal schedule. In the evening we went to the beach to recap our songs and practice projection. After dinner we partook in a series of team building activities.

The following morning we woke up early to exercise on the beach. We then ate breakfast and started learning a new Sinhala song and had sectional practices, which were extremely productive for all of our choristers it also strengthened our bonds and created a team spirit amongst our choir.

During the evening Ms. Shamistha organized mugs of hot chocolate for us all, which was extremely relieving for our voices. We then had a short break for some team building in the pool and had a fun time relaxing after our energetic practices. We then got refreshed before dinner to perform the songs we learned for our first audience comprised of Ms. Dilini, Mr. Sheaam and Mr. Garlick to get their feedback. After dinner, we had a movie night, where we commemorated 20 years of Harry Potter by watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part two. The next day we woke up for breakfast, packed and cleaned up our rooms and rehearsed once again till we had to leave. On departure we took some pictures as well as sang where is the love for our upcoming music video. We can all agree that this trip was a great way for us to prepare for the intense competition that we are to expect at Asia Pacific and this immersion in our songs helped us learn them completely to the best of our abilities, as well as being an amazing opportunity for us to grow closer as a group. We would like to thank Ms. Shamistha and all our teachers for giving us this wonderful opportunity.
