The Senior School benefits from excellent facilities and resources which enhance teaching and learning.
A range of devices are incorporated into classrooms to ensure that teachers are able to deliver outstanding lessons, enhanced by the use of technology where appropriate. All students are required to bring their own laptop to school every day.
The Science Department has six purpose-built fully resourced laboratories to allow full access to exciting and dynamic practical experiments and experiences. Each science has dedicated laboratories with specialist equipment. The separate Chemistry, Biology and Physics laboratories each have prep rooms and are supported by laboratory technicians.
The on-campus sports facilities on offer at the British School in Colombo are some of the finest in any school in Colombo. Students benefit from, a swimming pool, two basketball courts, a gym, cricket nets and an expansive sports terrace that houses indoor badminton and tennis courts.
Students also have access to a range of off-site facilities, particularly for football, cricket and competitive swimming.
The Sixth Form Centre is designed to be the base for our students in Year 12 and 13 as they complete the transition process from school to university and the world of work. The Sixth Form Centre houses work stations for independent study and preparation as well as comfortable communal seating areas for socialisation and conversation with friends.
The Sixth Form centre is adaptable and is a comfortable area for seminars, workshops and assemblies. The Sixth Form Centre has an office for the Head of Sixth Form so pastoral help is always at hand. There is also an extensive collection of materials relating to international universities admissions procedures.
The Senior School Library is managed by a dedicated team of full-time librarians. The library holds an extensive collection of reference materials, periodicals, magazines and journals alongside a large fiction collection. The well-resourced collections are constantly being updated by our library staff. A number of computers are available.
The library provides plenty of comfortable work spaces for class groups or independent study. The Library Mezzanine area is an adaptable space with ICT facilities and a projector that can be utilised as a teaching or presentation space, for seminars, lectures or private study.
The Library has an excellent range of materials relating to international universities admissions.
