Sinhala/ Tamil is taught in ability groups, as a compulsory subject from Year 1 to Year 6 for one lesson per week.
French is also taught in Year 5 and 6, which lays the foundation for further modern language learning in the Senior School.
Geography and history are taught in all year groups. Pupils are encouraged to develop the key skills important to the learning of these subjects while building up their knowledge of the world around them and its history.
As well as covering national curriculum aims and objectives, the emphasis is placed on making sure that pupils understand the geography and history of the local environment and country of Sri Lanka.
