The Year 12 residential trip to Belihul Oya was an incredible journey filled with adventure, learning, and unforgettable experiences. With 53 enthusiastic students, we set out on an adventure that would leave a lasting impression on all of us.
One of the highlights of the trip was the exhilarating raft-building and racing activity. Students were challenged to work together, applying classroom knowledge to construct their own rafts. It was not just about constructing a raft; it was a test of teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity. The exhilarating race that followed was a testament to their collaborative efforts, determination and competitive spirit.
But the adventure didn't stop there. The trip was packed with team-building activities that pushed students to think outside the box, enhance their communication skills, and understand the factors that influence both individual focus and the team's performance. A favourite among students was the blindfolded ball-passing game, where precision and coordination were essential for success. The game 'under' and 'over' brought out unique styles and creativity within each team, making it an absolute blast.
The journey through the village and river crossing was nothing short of breathtaking. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Belihul Oya, the students connected with nature in a way they had never had before. The local food served during the trip was a gastronomic delight, introducing our students to the delicious flavors of Sri Lanka. The BBQ session added a flavourful touch to the culinary experience, making it a memorable part of the trip.
One of the most awaited events of the residential trip was the inter-house talent competition. The theme for this year was 'everything goes wrong,' and it was a spectacular showcase of creativity and talent. All four houses put on incredible performances, and choosing a winner was a tough task but Nobel House emerged as the winner, leaving the audience in awe of their act.
Here are some comments from our fellow students about the trip:
I enjoyed the Y12 Residential tremendously, building our own rafts and working with my classmates, exploring a beautiful part of Sri Lanka I had never seen before, and getting out of my comfort zone. I must say, it was a well-spent three days in which I made life-long memories!

The residential trip to Belihul Oya was such a memorable yet educational experience. For instance, after falling into many paddy fields; I was taught resilience and the power of teamwork. Ergo, a trek my ankles will never forget. Nonetheless, I was brought closer to my classmates through the numerous activities meticulously planned by the teachers at BSC and the Adventure Seals at Kinchigune Adventure Camp. Moreover, I truly felt relaxed admiring the spectacular sights Belihul Ooya offered and would definitely go there again.

The residential trip, from beginning to end, was the beginning of the end, as it was the last time as a grade we would enjoy ourselves, cherish minuscule yet precious moments, and prepare for the obstacles ahead. The trip was supposedly a brain cleanser, however increased our sense of self by showing us deep metaphors, experiences and lessons we may need in the future. Our serotonin and dopamine hiked up to new levels, as we achieved a feeling of serenity. We reflected and evaluated ourselves, and left to Colombo, hoping to stay further, but preparing for a new beginning

The year 12 residential trip was awesome. It was a fresh experience to explore and bond with my batch and discover how I will contribute to working together while also learning leadership skills and being there for one another. The scenery from the camp site was spectacular, and the weather was ideal for all our activities. I'd like to thank all the teachers who looked after us and allowed us to go on this wonderful getaway.

Our students not only had a blast but also gained valuable insights into teamwork, problem-solving, and creative thinking.
