BSC has partnered up with the Let’sTALK Schools Programme over the next one year. Let’sTALK is about ‘Letting Everyone Talk Safely’ by cultivating an environment of psychological safety across the whole school community.
Last week, around 45 Junior and Senior School staff received training, preparing them to be Let’sTALK ‘mentors’. This week around 35 students, mostly from Year 10 and 12 were trained in how to be a Let’sTALK ‘buddy’.
This programme is integral to one of our key BSC values – building strong relationships: student to student, staff to student, and staff to staff.
Promoting and nurturing the well-being of our school community is a top priority for BSC. This programme equips our staff and students with the skills and confidence to be able to reach out to people who may need someone to talk to.
There is overwhelming evidence that talking about our challenges with someone we can trust can improve our relationships and our sense of connection and wellbeing. Sharing our concerns in this way builds our resilience to overcome problems, equips us to confidently face future challenges, and improves our overall wellbeing, mental health and performance.
We look forward to the official launch of Let’sTALK later this term – watch this space!
