On the 10th and 11th of November our BSC Lions Swimming team participated in the prestigious Inter International School Swimming Championships 2023 held at Sugathadasa Pool Complex. We had 49 students from year 4 to year 13 participating over the two days; it was a complete privilege to watch the efforts of each swimmer and witness how the event united the school community. Our supporters, coaches, fellow students, teachers, swimmers and parents were all in good voice, creating a great atmosphere, really encouraging our swimmers and cheering every stroke. It was particularly nice to see how supportive, kind and respectful we were throughout the event and pleasing for me to know that BSC, are not only recognised for our performances in the pool, but how we conduct ourselves at such events.
Of course, there was some disappointment, but our student’s demonstrated resilience and with the newfound team spirit, students supported each other. It was great to see the team progress which has been spearheaded by Mr. Jeewaka and his team, this doesn’t just happen, it takes hard work, commitment and a real drive and passion to bring everyone together, long may it continue.
