Adithi Iyer's Bharatnatyam

Bharatanatyam is a major form of Indian dance that originated in Tamil Nadu. It is one of the eight widely recognized Indian classical dance forms, and expresses South Indian religious themes and spiritual ideas. The evening was rich in colour, movement and symbolism, providing an incredible showcase for Adithi's skill, precision, timing and grace. The accompanying orchestra and vocalists added to the complex multi-faceted performance which was truly inspiration. Such mastery is not easily won and we know that Adithi has devoted over a decade developing her practice. This time was well rewarded with a faultless performance. We extend our huge congratulations to Adithi and our thanks to her parents, Mr and Mrs Iyer, for allowing so many of the BSC community to witness such a wonderful and enriching performance.

Adithi commented that "Bharatnatyam has been an integral part of forming my character as it teaches not only performance skills but also valuable life skills such as discipline, determination and the value of hard work. This performance was possibly one of the most difficult things I have ever done but the knowledge I gained from it is priceless. This is just the first step in my journey as a dancer and I look forward to harnessing these skills to use in my future career."
