Part of the broader educational experience that our 6th Form Students are offered at the BSC is an Enrichment Program. This is several hours in the week in which they get the opportunity to research their post-school careers, universities and colleges etc., but also the opportunity to hear from outside professionals and other teachers. Regularly the school invites industry professionals to come and speak to our students and offer insight into the world of work. We have had professionals from the fields of Journalism, business, finance and sport amongst others. This year, along with this we have asked members of staff who have a particular interest or specialist subject if they would like to deliver lectures or workshops in their field. The response was enthusiastic and eclectic.
This year our 6th form students will be listening to members of staff discuss the connections between classical civilizations and how our societies are run today. They will look at the power of language and rhetoric. Our students will learn to recognise the importance of happiness and further an understanding of the post-modernist movement of the 20th century.
Appreciating how different subject areas interleave and apply to one another is a critical part of the world our young people are moving into. No longer is it enough to be isolated within your field. Recognising the value of all disciplines to each other is crucial to success and exposure to that at this stage can only serve to benefit further down the road.
