Over the past couple of weeks at school, Year 4 have really impressed us. They have been attending physical and online school with enthusiasm and have done some great learning. We have started our new topic all about pollution and the environment, using the great text by Jeannie Baker called Window. We have been focusing on writing setting descriptions and identifying the changes in the environment in the story. We have been really impressed by the use of expanded noun phrases, subordinating conjunctions and fronted adverbials in the children’s writing. They have also come up with some brilliant pledges about how they can look after the environment and help reduce pollution.
The children have also voted on our new Year Group Reader which is The Explorer by Katherine Rundell. Each day a new chapter is read and the children are asking and answering some great questions about the text. We all can’t wait to find out what is going to happen next!
