We have done a lot of work in Reception about celebrations. We began our travel around the world with what the children already know about their own lives so that we could use that as a spur to consider the lives of other communities across the world.
We first considered what parties the children know about such as weddings, home-coming, birthdays and other parties for all sorts of reasons. You all know that we ended our lovely work with Prince Charming’s Ball, where the children were able to dress for a very important celebration in their best clothes. The teachers also enjoyed dressing up in their best clothes. We had some lovely food provided by parents, and we all took part in a dance with some typical ballroom dancing. Mr David really enjoyed dancing a Viennese Waltz with all of the other teachers, where he pretended to know what he was doing!
We had some VIP visitors such as Mrs Wells, Dr Scarth, Ms Melanie and Ms Alison, who all enjoyed the party as much as we did. We decorated the corridor with drapes and party lights and a super balloon arch, that made it all a really special event.
