Senior School Prize Giving 2019 at Nelum Pokuna

On Thursday 12th September at Nelum Pakuna we convened as a school to reflect on the achievements of students across the curriculum and beyond. It was a massive pleasure to witness the faces of students as they crossed the stage to receive their awards, and to meet with their proud parents afterwards.

In my address to the audience I noted the special qualities that exist in our student body, the universal belief in community that has seen the students thrive even during times of challenge. This was confirmed by the exemplary and exceptional conduct of those students not receiving awards this year who supported their contemporaries with gusto: it is this alignment of support and belief between parents, staff and students that makes this the best school in the country. 

During this event our choir, yet again proved themselves to be world class, they filled the biggest stage I have ever seen with prefect harmonies- their energy is truly infectious. A special mention must go to our Head Prefects and Senior Prefect team who contributed so much to the compering and organization of the awards, to the events team and everyone involved in delivering the award ceremony and to our wonderful parents whose presence meant so much to the students receiving awards.
