Year 3 have had an excellent first week back and are all really excited and motivated to learn. In literacy lessons we have started our new book, ‘The Man Who Walked Between the Towers’, to aid our lessons. It is clear the children love this book already as they have been very enthusiastic to infer information from the pictures and text.
So far, we have found out that the man is an acrobat who loves to walk on a rope tied between two trees. We wanted the children to take on the mindset of this character in order to understand how he might feel doing this. Therefore, the children had the opportunity to walk along the thin wooden part of the bench and express their feelings of this. It was brilliant to have so many different feelings being expressed, such as, excited, nervous, petrified and even famous!
Books are a truly fantastic thing and the children are learning many new skills, as well as deepening their imagination through these!
