“What’s the time Mr. Wolf?”

Year 1 children have learnt to read the time to the hour and know key times of the day to the nearest hour. 

They were engaged in making their own clocks where they discussed the difference of the lengths of hands and what they are called.

The children were encouraged to use key words such as clock, watch, hands, minute, hour, o’clock, morning, afternoon, bedtime, dinnertime, playtime, midday and midnight.

They enjoyed playing “what’s the time Mr. Wolf?” with the teacher, who acted as the wolf, calling out o’clock times. Children then set the time on their clocks by moving the hands on the clocks accordingly.
