As part of the Year 12 PSHE/Enrichment programme, a Colombo-based playback theatre group came to school to do a session with all Year 12 students on Wednesday. Playback theatre is a form of improvisational theatre where a few actors perform drama pieces based on personal stories that the audience share from their own lives. The students were told to work with the theme of family relationships and change.
The playback group also worked with Year 10 Drama students in a 'rehearsal' session. The Year 10 students had never encountered playback theatre before and seemed to thoroughly enjoy the experience. They were open and generous in the stories they shared and engaged with maturity and professionalism with the visiting actors. We are immensely grateful to the playback team for the interest and commitment they showed in working with our students and the time they generously gave to this cause. We hope to do much more work with them in the future.
