Welcome to this edition of The Lion.
I would like to thank all parents and students who attended our first set of Parent-Teacher Conferences for this academic year for all Year Groups earlier this week. I do hope that this was a useful opportunity for you all to reflect on your child’s progress so far this year as well as to set useful personal targets. I would like to remind all parents that if you would like to arrange follow up meetings with any teachers, my team and I would be delighted to organise this. On the other hand, for parents who were unable to attend, we will be contacting you shortly to arrange alternative meeting opportunities.
GL Progress Testing
This week, we concluded our Progress Tests in English, Maths and Science for Key Stage 3 students. Once again I must congratulate all students for the mature and purposeful way that they approached these tests. We will arrange opportunities for students who missed any tests to complete them in the days ahead.
The completed GL assessment cycle will be followed up with a range of Parent Forums to explain the reports that this suite of tests generates. We are excited that the data provided will allow us to improve our strategies for personalised learning in all subject areas and to ensure that all students are given the precise provision needed so that they achieve the highest academic standards.
End of Michaelmas Term Examinations
This week, parents and students will have received the timetable and arrangements for the End of Michaelmas Term Examinations.
PTA Food Fair
Our tireless PTA Committee are once again organising an International Food Fair as part of our UN Day celebrations taking place on Thursday 18th October. I am most grateful to you all for your kind contribution of food and for supporting this special day.
I remind you that the contribution slips should be returned to Ms Carmalite as soon as possible.
Food should be handed over to members of the PTA team who will be available on at to collect your food during the morning drop-off on Thursday.
I hope you enjoy this edition of The Lion. Have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes,
Simon Harwood
Deputy Principal (Head of Senior School)
