This week in Year three, we have all been working incredibly hard to widen our vocabulary to include some fantastic adjectives into our writing. The children have been focusing on both characters and different settings. Initially they came up with a word bank full of adjectives which can be included within their sentences to describe a character and setting. The children showed great initiative to use a thesaurus to help them find suitable and creative synonyms. After this, the children enjoyed taking part in a gallery walk where they were able to reflect on the work from other groups and ‘magpie’ any adjectives from their lists which they liked and would want to use. These adjectives can now be confidently used by the children in their big write books next week to create some excellent pieces of descriptive setting writing.
