Friday 14th September 2018 was a very special day for the British School as we gathered to celebrate the Annual Awards Ceremony at the prestigious Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapakse Theatre. The special day was a wonderful opportunity for us to reflect on the special achievements of peers, colleagues and friends from the last academic year.
The School was delighted to welcome or Chief Guest, Professor Page Fortna. Professor Fortna (PhD Harvard, 1998), whose daughters joined the British School in Colombo in August, is the Harold Brown Professor in the Department of Political Science at the Saltzman Institute, Columbia University. It was also an honour to welcome the Directors of the British School Ms Fathimath Maniku, an alumnus of the School, and Mr Umar Maniku, along with our Managing Director, Mr. Hettiarachchi.
Our Awards Programme included a traditional welcome given by Kandyan drummers and dancers, with outstanding musical contributions from the Senior School Choir.
Our Ceremony celebrated the numerous academic, creative and competitive pursuits of Senior School learners both inside and outside the classroom. We also looked to the year ahead, with the appointment if School Officers.
We look forward to building on the inspirational success of our peers and friends as we face the challenges of the year ahead.
