Students in Year 4 recognize the power of poetry-its ability to inspire emotions and bring out their innermost feelings. They have been exploring different ways of writing poems and have realized that poems come in a wide variety of forms; from haikus- traditional Japanese poems made up of only 3 lines – to free verse in shape and acrostic poems.
The brilliant learners have been having fun stringing together words to create particular rhythmic patterns, while at the same time keeping their eye on sentence structure and meaning.
As one of them put it, ‘writing haikus is fun because you can write about anything you fancy in nature!’
