‘Every new beginning comes from another beginning’s end’. These were the wise words of Roman philosopher Seneca, spoken over a millennium ago. Incredibly, his analysis remains true to this date. A clear example of Seneca’s mantra is the Interact Club of BSC’s recent Installation Ceremony which was held on Tuesday 13th September and was a jointly organized ceremony managed by both the Outgoing and Incoming Interact boards from 2021-2023. When one beginning comes to an end, its conclusion bears fruit for new growth and development. Together, both committees worked tirelessly to present an impeccable Installation which will support the future growth and development of the Interact society while providing an invaluable experience for all those involved.
This special day began with the customary lighting of the oil lamp followed by a variety of addresses by the Project Chairperson: Int.Shenara Fernando, Outgoing Secretary of ICBSC: Int.Nikhil Rodrigo, Outgoing President: Int.Furqan Arif, Incoming President: Int. Aneesha Dodanwela, the honourable DIR (District Interact Representative): PP.Int. Julian Fernandopulle, the respected District Interact Committee Chairperson Rtn. Shanaz Sahabdeen, our keynote speaker Rotarian Mahen Perera the Charter president of the Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan alongside the Chief guest, our principle: Mrs. Hanna Wells and our Guest of Honour, Rtn.G.S Sylvester. Each speaker brought diverse and creative ideas to the ceremony, all of which the Incoming and Outgoing boards appreciate deeply. Thank you again for your knowledge and wisdom so generously granted at the Installation Ceremony. We promise to take your advice into strong consideration and base our activities along the pathway of guidance that you have paved.
The ceremony was also commended by an outstanding performance by BSC’s band and choir, organized by Ms. Shamistha De Silva.
This Installation was ICBSC’s first after the revival with the Rotary club of Colombo Metropolitan and therefore a very significant and memorable occasion. Amongst the many honoured guests at the ceremony, I would like to especially thank both the Incoming and Outgoing board members for their diligent support and determination to make this Installation a success.
I hope this ceremony was as enlightening and beneficial to the attendees as it was to the organizing committee. I also hope this will be one of many occasions that the Interact Club of BSC achieves great heights and I look forward to seeing our club continue to be strong in its actions and words.
