For the 6th consecutive year, we are excited to welcome our new students joining the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. A meeting for new students and parents was held on Thursday 5th September in the Exam Hall to outline the components of the Award and the importance of it.
Learning should not be confined to the classroom; it should also take place in the school environment and the wider community. As such, our students joining the International Award will equip themselves with the skills and knowledge needed to face an ever-changing world, being #WORLD READY.
In a poll of more than 500 senior managers commissioned by The Duke of Edinburgh's Award in the UK, 98% think that young people should invest more time enhancing their soft skills. Nine in ten of the business leaders surveyed revealed they are more likely to employ a candidate who demonstrates achievements beyond grades, and those who show evidence of strong soft skills often progress quicker in the workplace.
Upon embarking the International Award, we believe that our students at BSC will have much to contribute to our society and the world in a myriad of ways having attained a broader non-formal education that encompasses the core values of Cambridge: Confident, innovative, Engaged, Reflective and Responsible.
We wish our new students the very best as they begin their Award!
