General Senior

The Michaelmas first Half-Term is seeing the Senior School up and running with a multitude of daily activities in each Key Stage.

Morning Assemblies

Each Key Stage has been busy with their weekly morning Assemblies and in Key Stage Three, the Wednesday Assemblies so far have been on interesting and thought-provoking themes. Miss Mahum addressed the Years 7, 8 and 9 on “Resilience” while Miss Celeste spoke about “Caring for the Environment”. This week, Year 9D presented the first Class Assembly for Key Stage Three on “Global Warming”.

In Key Stage Four, the Tuesday Assemblies have been presented by Mr Kevin, Year 11B, and 11C. Year 11B presented on “Careers” while 11C presented on “Advantages of learning another language”.

The Sixth Form Assemblies on Thursdays addressed separately to Year 12 and 13 classes involved leadership and examination focus, respectively.

We look forward to the upcoming Key Stage Assemblies.

Attendance

To promote healthy Attendance, Senior School is now recognising Classes with Best Attendance. The first set of Classes with Best Attendance was displayed this Monday on the school’s digital display.

The Year Group achieving Best Attendance for the first 5 weeks of school was Year 8. All four Year 8 classes had over 95% average attendance, with 8B leading the group, followed by 8C, 8D and 8A respectively. Congratulations Year 8!

Year 7C bagged the Class with Best Attendance Award for Key Stage Three. The Second Place went to 8B and the Third Place to 7A.

Year 10A had Best Attendance in Key Stage Four, followed by 10B, 11D, and 10C respectively.

Leadership

While the Year 12 students have been focusing on applying for Prefectship, the Form Captains have been working in the Pupil Council with the two Deputy Head Perfects. The Pupil Council has addressed timely and relevant topics at their first meeting, such as staying updated through MS Teams, improving attendance, being role models promoting responsibility among peers, and establishing a chain of communication through reporting.

Sixth Form Enrichment and Social Service Project

The Sixth Form Enrichment programme involved sessions on university application and informative fairs and a workshop on Sociology. This week, students will learn how to face interviews. The first survey on PSHE topics in demand was conducted on Wednesday morning. The PSHE programme for the Sixth Form will commence in Week 7 after half term.

Miss Peshani and the Sixth Form initiated the Sixth Form Service Project. Keep tuned in for more details in the upcoming weeks.

Extra-Curricular Activities

The Senior School Extra-Curricular Activities are underway and some activities have become popular, especially the new Maths Clubs.

The Environment Society has been working on the theme “Designing for the Environment” and we congratulate Nadhrah Ikhtikalillah (10A), Prasandi Sethunga (12B) and Dhiren Wirasinhe (7B) for their outstanding designs.

The International Award Entrants have been working on setting personal SMART goals for their activities this week.

House Activities

The Four Houses have been busy updating and decorating their House Display and Notice Boards this week while preparing for the upcoming House Events.
