Welcome to this week’s edition of The Lion!
I must applaud our members of our MUN Society, who participated in the prestigious NYMUN Conference over the weekend. I know that Prisha Satwani and Theekshana Nawinne worked very hard in their respective committees and made the school very proud. I must also thank the tireless Office Bearers and Ms Mahum, our Teacher-in-Charge, who were present throughout the event supporting our delegates. Well done and thank you to you all!
CAT 4 and Progress Tests
Following on from the CAT4 Tests last week, I must congratulate members of Years 7, 8 and 9 who have been busily completing their respective Progress Tests in English and Maths for Year 7 and in English, Maths and Science for Years 8 and 9. Our students approached the tests with maturity, organisation and endeavour and I am pleases to report that the tests ran very successfully. Catch-up opportunities will be offered for students who were absent to ensure that all students are given the opportunity to complete all tests. I must thank our IT Team and our Computer Science Department for their help and support in ensuring these tests were administered.
As our students completed the tests, our Middle Leaders took part in a training and familiarisation session, led by our Key Stage 4 Assessment Coordinator, Mr Robert Champion on Wednesday afternoon. This session explored the range of data that is presented to teachers in the comprehensive reports that are generated by the CAT 4 Tests. This initial training will be followed up with a whole staff training session during the Staff Training Day on Friday 19th October. Further information forums for parents will also take place in the weeks ahead.
We are very excited that these tests will provide the opportunity best meet the needs and potential of all students in our care and allow us to set personal and ambitious targets to ensure that every student secures the highest academic standards.
Reports and Parent Teacher Conferences
Staff in the Senior School are busily compiling their Half-Term Reports for all students. These will be released to parents on the Parent Portal on Thursday 18th October. With student progress firmly in mind, I remind you that my team and I look forward to welcoming you to the Parent-Teacher Conferences for the Michaelmas Term. The Parent Teacher Conferences for Years 7, 9 and 11 take place on Wednesday 10th October. The Parent Teacher Conferences for Years 8, 10, 12 and 13 take place on Thursday 11th October. Schedules have been circulated to parents and I look forward to seeing you.
