General Senior

We began our week on a note of celebration by recognizing individual and team successes in a range of pursuits: academic, creative and sporting as we distributed certificates, prizes and awards for success in the recent Humanities Week, to our Champion Under 13 Girls Basketball Team, our Under 16 Boys Football Term who emerged second runners-up in the recent tournament organised by Elizabeth Moir School and we marked significant success in Swimming at national level competition.

This has been a very busy week once again for the older students in the Senior School, with year 12 completing their Summer Term Examinations and Year 10 beginning their Examinations. It was a pleasure to welcome Year 12 back to their usual timetables on Thursday and I know that their teachers are busily marking papers as well as compiling End of Year Reports. The Examination Timetable continues until Tuesday 5th June and they return to their normal timetables on Wednesday 6th June. I wish all of our Year 10 students a successful examination period. This is an important time as they consolidate their learning over the first year of their IGCSE courses as well as being an important opportunity to set personal targets as they look toward Year 11.

It was a pleasure to welcome Year 6 to join us in the Senior School on Wednesday, for the annual Taster Day. The Taster Day is an opportunity for our soon-to-be Year 7 students to experience a Senior School timetable as they look toward joining the Senior School in August. Year 6 enjoyed a day of English, Maths, Science and Humanities as well as spending break and lunch times with their colleagues and friends in the Senior School. Our Year 6 students deserve to be congratulates for their outstanding approach to their day in the Senior School! It was a pleasure to see so many smiles throughout the day! Well done to you all. I look forward to seeing you as you begin Year 7 in August!

As we work to embed the Cambridge Learner Attributes in our approaches to all areas of school life, our School Counselor, Ms Jehan welcomed Junior and Senior School parents to her workshop, Raising Reflective Children, on Wednesday morning. This was part of Ms Jehan’s regular workshop schedule, and as always this most recent workshop raised some thoughtful ideas and discussion. I remind parents that Ms Jehan’s email contact is: [email protected] and she would be delighted to meet with you to discuss the ideas raised in her workshop.

I hope you enjoy this edition of The Lion. Have a wonderful weekend.

With best wishes,

Simon Harwood
