General Senior

The British School made Thurston Grounds its own for the day, on Saturday 27th June 2018, when Newton House, Nobel House, Scott House and Shakespeare House did battle for the much coveted Inter-House Cricket Challenge Trophy. As the School Flag and House Flags stood proudly, the event was formally opened with the School Anthem and a particularly inspiring speech by School Cricket Captain Salman.

Spectators were treated to a day of wonderful play, sportsmanship and fellowship; values that always make BSC House Events so very special. We were delighted to be joined by many parents, members of the School’s Alumni and students who supported their friends and their Houses. Our tireless PTA provided refreshments throughout the day to keep us all on top form as players and spectators. Special mention must also go to our fantastic commentators who kept us entertained throughout the day.

It was a pleasure to welcome Sri Lankan cricketing legend, Sidath Wettimuny, as our Chief Guest. Mr Wettimuny presented special awards to our players as well as ending our competition with a memorable speech commenting on the importance of sport for enjoyment and fellowship. Mr Wettimuny presented the following special awards: Best Batsman, Rahul Chigulapalli; Best Bowler, Aaryan Amaleen; Man of the Finals, Pradyun Saikia; Man of the series, Pradyun Saikia; Special Talent Award, Nehan Moonasinghe.

After a wonderful day, final placements were:

Fourth Place: Scott House

Third Place: Shakespeare House

Runner-up: Newton House

Champion Team: Nobel House

Congratulations and thanks must be passed on to Mr Aruna and Mr Eranga, as well as to our Head of Houses and House Teachers for ensuring another successful event!

Congratulations to all of our Houses!
