As part of the community service project plan for the year, 30 members of the Interact Club of the BSC visited the AMI Tsunami Children’s House in Welisara. As a visit to this home has become an annual feature of the club, our members were rewarded with a warm welcome and huge smiles of recognition when we arrived there just before lunch.
We organised a game of musical chairs for the children, danced, chatted and played with them. They then enjoyed the ‘Happy Meal’ we had taken them, and treated us to a beautiful dance act that they had been practising for their annual Christmas party. We also made a small donation towards their Christmas party from the funds raised at the BSC Christmas carnival stall that was run by Interact.
The visit was a very rewarding experience for the members of the club and we thank the Director of the AMI Tsunami Children’s House, Mrs Allison Wijemanne for the opportunity.
