General Senior

It’s been a very industrious week for all members of the Senior School this week as Year 10 and Year 12 completed their End of Term Examinations and members of Key Stage Three in Years 7, 8 and 9 began their examination period. Once again I have been very impressed by the motivated and purposeful way that all students have approached their examinations and I wish them all every success.

With the examination period in full swing now, Subject Teachers and Form Tutors are busily compiling End of Term Reports for all Senior School students and these will be distributed before school closes in December.

Building on the recent success for our Under 15 Boys Basketball Team, our Under 20 Boys Football Team brought further sporting success on Monday. Beating OSC, our boys secured a place in the Semi Final of the Tournament; an outstanding achievement. Congratulations to our players!

It was a pleasure to welcome parents to Ms Jehan’s workshop, Raising Engaged Children on Wednesday morning. In line with the School’s continued focus on nurturing the Cambridge Learner Attributes, with a particular focus this half term on the notion of engaged, the workshop was a wonderful opportunity to discuss and share strategies for nurturing and developing curiosity, inquisitive endeavour and a desire for life-long-learning. I would like to thank those parents who were able to attend and I look forward to welcoming you to further workshops next term.

Precisely in line with the British School’s dedication to holistic learning and experience and with Saint Andrew’s Day approaching, we were delighted to welcome a group of award winning pipers from Dollar Academy, Scotland who led a wonderful performance and workshop for Key Stages 4 and 5 on Thursday morning. This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to experience Scotland’s culture and heritage, as well as a remarkable opportunity to be entertained by such talented musicians! A wonderful and truly memorable start to Thursday indeed.

In another busy week, it is wonderful to reflect on the very special place BSC is. Enjoy this edition of The Lion.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend.

Best wishes,

Simon Harwood

Deputy Principal (Head of Senior School)
