After the tremendous victory in the initial rounds, our WSC champions attended the Global Round, which was held from June 26 – 30, 2017 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Our students got an opportunity to showcase their knowledge and skills in writing, debating and quizzing through the four main segments – Team Debate, Collaborative Writing, Scholar’s Bowl and Scholar’s Challenge. Five out of six teams qualified for the Champions Round, which will take place in the University of Yale in November 2017.
Besides their excellent performance at the competition, our students proudly displayed the diversity of the Sri Lankan culture through various activities, including offering some “achcharu” to the students from all over the world, at the Scholar’s Fair. Needless to say, the Sri Lankan stall was a huge hit among the 2000+ students and teachers who took part in this event. The Scholar’s Fair also gave our students the chance to experience the culture and traditions of different countries from all over the world.
The most exciting part of this experience was the trip to the Perfume Pagoda. Boat rides, cable cars and delicious food aside, the students were thrilled by the exposure to the fascinating cultural sites of Vietnam.
To sum up, Team WSC of the British School in Colombo had a triumphant, enriching and fun experience at the Global Round in Hanoi.
