Welcome you to the new academic year!
The Senior School is once again delighted to congratulate our students who achieved excellent results at the demanding Cambridge A Level and IGCSE Examinations in the June 2018 Examination Series. Once again, BSC’s students’ success compares most favourably with leading schools all over the world. We must also congratulate the Graduating Class of 2018 who are now preparing to follow BSC Alumni as they begin their undergraduate journeys in the world’s finest universities.
It has been a pleasure to meet many of you at the respective Parent-Form Tutor Meetings throughout the week. As you know, each child’s well-being is a priority for us at the British School. I sincerely hope that you found the initial meeting with your child’s Form Tutor useful as you will be working closely with them in the weeks and months ahead. Importantly, these meetings remind us of the importance of close working relationships. This is something fundamental to the British School’s success. With this in mind, I remind you that my team and I are always available to help if you have any questions or concerns at any time. Unfortunately, Mr Michael Wijesuria, our Deputy Head (Academic) will be away from school for the foreseeable future due to ill health. If you have any concerns regarding your child’s curriculum or timetable, please contact me directly on: [email protected] .
Following a very successful Induction Day programme for students beginning Year 7 and Year 12 on Monday, it was a sincere pleasure to welcome back members of all Year Groups on Tuesday. I was impressed with the industrious way that all of our students settled in to their daily routines for the year ahead.
At the British School, we believe that every child can and should excel.
So, as we look toward the new academic year, I urge all families to remember the importance of full attendance. Our top achievers in every Year Group maintain excellent attendance. Alongside this, preparedness and organisation are vital tools to equip each student for the challenges of the days and weeks ahead.
I extend a warm welcome in particular to all new families who join us at the British School at this time. I hope that you will be very happy in our very special community.
I wish you all a happy and successful 2018-19! I hope you enjoy this edition of The Lion.
With best wishes,
Simon Harwood
Deputy Principal (Head of Senior School)
