Also, this camp experience allows students to realize how vigorous the academic life becomes in a top university, the importance of time management and to develop independent study habits.
This year Ms Vishunika Wickramasinghe and Ms Dilini Wijesinghe accompanied 14 young scientists from the British School to take part in this Camp from Monday 19th June to Friday 23rd June. These 14 young scientists had the opportunity to attend interesting lectures, fascinating lab demonstrations, experiments, fun field trips and also represented BSC at the quiz held at the end of the week.
Our young scientists made all of us proud; coming away with clutches of awards:
The BSC team won one Gold Medal, two Silver Medals, one Bronze Medal and a Special Award.
The students also had an opportunity to speak to senior professors on university applications and gained a firsthand experience on how rigorous this procedure can be.
“The Science Summer Camp is designed to stir curiosity and inculcate a life-long fascination for science into the students through inspiring lectures by university professors, creative workshops, engaging demonstrations at state-of-the-art laboratories and visits to research labs at NUS for an experiential learning in a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment.” NUS SCIENCE CAMP
