Senior School Library has organized a series of Library activities for students and staff to foster and inculcate a reading habit among children and staff. We are pleased to present “The Senior School Reading Challenge” as a one of many such series of events organized by the library.
The reading challenge is mainly focused on KS3 students. However, all the students in others years are most welcome to join. All intended participants are required to register at the library prior to the event.
The Challenge primarily aims to encourage a love of reading for pleasure in students, and to facilitate them to experience quality literature. Hence, this “Challenge” is an introductory challenge to start to build reading into a habit of those students who don’t read regularly. The “Reading Challenge” is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely. Each student will be encouraged to read for a minimum of 20 minutes each day over the course of May and June reading as many different books as possible during this period
This activity spreads across 7 weeks and it begins on Monday 2 May. The awards ceremony will be held in late June. The students who successfully complete the “Challenge” will be awarded with a certificate and the first 10 students who score the highest points will receive book vouchers
The participants are required to submit a written recommendation of each book read during the challenge on his /her own words highlighting why one should read / not read the book on the given format.
The certificate and the awards will be awarded at a formal award ceremony at the school.
