What it means to be a Year 6 leader by Hesali and Zayna

General Junior

The Year 6 leaders were chosen as they possess the qualities to represent, support, and cooperate with others. We work together to bring innovative ideas and perspectives and we make sure to unite everyone and ensure that all voices are heard. As leaders, we have good hearts and are here to help guide others through difficult times, offering to listen and provide support and advice along the way. We can all be leaders. It doesn't matter how young or old you are. If you help guide others and want to make a difference in the world then like us, you are already a leader. Some may not carry these abilities naturally, but they can still develop these qualities to become leaders in the future.

Leaders develop patience to be able to cope with others. Being a leader comes with great responsibility. As leaders in Year 6, we have had to demonstrate excellent planning, awareness-raising and fundraising skills. In doing this, we have had to be creative, innovative and able to communicate. These skills have been used when we have worked with different charity projects donating money and items to those in need, as well as when discovering how we can support the environment, hospitals and other institutions. These are challenges that we must navigate effectively while also showing powerful decision-making skills. All these projects have shown us that after deciding a cause or becoming involved in an event, a leader must act and move things forward. There are times we needed to have confidence and be bold to put ideas forward. We think that being a leader brings out the best in everyone and we know this is only the start!
