Parent Teacher Association

Parent Teacher Association of British School in Colombo is an internal association comprising of a committee of a maximum of 16 members which include Parent Representatives, School Representatives, and member of the Board of Directors.

OUR MISSION

Our Mission is to bring the children, parent and school communities together and contribute towards fostering healthy international diversity in the British School in Colombo.

OUR OBJECTIVES

• Provide best social and cultural experience for all students
• Involve parents of all nationalities in PTA organized events
• Liaising with school to bring parental concerns to the attention of the school administration

OUR PURPOSE

• Organize social and cultural activities to propel the above objectives
• Organize fund-raising events to support and identify Charity that need our assistance and give back to school community through BSC Support

OUR EVENTS

• Teacher’s Day to cherish and celebrate the contributions of our teacher community.
• United Nation Day to foster deeper understanding and tolerance towards all cultures.
• Christmas Carnival as the largest fund-raising event of the year open to public.
• Avrudhu Pola for celebrating the Sinhalese and Tamil New Year in British School style.
• Eid Celebrations and Charity marking a positive start to the auspicious month of Ramadan.
• Vesak Celebrations and Charity to commemorate the holiest festival celebrated in our country.
• Social to bring the parent and teacher communities together in an informal and fun setting.
• Other events for Children like Movie Nights to provide an exhilarating and fun social experience for children.

• BSC Lion Family Newsletter is a weekly newsletter which provides update on the events PTA organizes in school.
• Formal Annual Audited Statement of Accounts presented in Annual General Meeting of the Association

Best way to support PTA is by signing up for volunteering during events organized by them.

• PARENT CONTRIBUTIONS

PTA essentially organizes events in school to foster their objectives, they look forward to contribution support from parents in the form of sponsorships and cash donations.
